Rock-Vent Class A Chimney Pipe Grades of Steel

Rock-Vent Class A Chimney Pipe Grades of Steel

Grades of Steel: Rock-Vent Class A Chimney Pipe

Class A chimney pipe is a great alternative to use for a chimney compared to constructing a costly masonry chimney. Class A chimney pipe is a double wall insulated chimney pipe which requires a 2" clearance from combustible material. Most manufacturers of Class A chimney pipes only offer one grade of stainless steel and it's for only one application. However, Rock-Vent Class A chimney pipe is offered in three different grades of chimney pipe which caters to any type of installation.

316L Inner / 430 Outer Class A Pipe

Rock-Vent Class A chimney pipe is one of the only manufacturers to offer a 316L stainless steel inner wall and 430 stainless steel outer wall Class A chimney pipe. While most manufacturers who claim their 304L inner wall is an all fuel chimney, their lifetime warranty is always limited. Rock-Vent 316L stainless steel inner wall offers a true lifetime warranty. The 316L inner wall is best used with coal, gas, oil, and wood burning appliances. No other manufacturer of Class A chimney pipe will hold up to the corrosive emissions of coal burning quite like the Rock-Vent 316L chimney pipe. The 316L stainless steel will also stand the test of time against any gas or oil burning appliance. The 316L stainless steel will probably outlast the appliance itself.

304L Inner / 430 Outer Class A Pipe

The most common grade of Class A chimney pipe is the Rock-Vent 304L stainless steel inner wall and 430 stainless steel outer wall. This is the most common grade of chimney pipe throughout the industry. However, the Rock-Vent 304L inner Class A chimney pipe offers a true lifetime warranty. This grade of stainless steel is best used for wood burning stoves and fireplaces. This is a great type of chimney pipe to use when you need to tear down the chimney below the roof line and extend the chimney through the roof with a Class A chimney pipe. The 304L inner, 430 outer stainless steel Class A chimney pipe is also a great pipe to have outside when a through-the-wall or roof application is installed. The 430 stainless steel outer wall will withstand the test of time without corrosion.

304L Inner / Galvalume Outer Class A Pipe

The last grade of Rock-Vent Class A chimney pipe is the 304L stainless steel inner wall and the Galvalume outer wall. Like the 304L inner and 430 outer Class A chimney pipe, the 304L inner and Galvalume outer should be used for wood burning applications. This grade should be used when the Class A chimney pipe will be inside the home or inside a chimney chase. The Galvalume outer pipe is the most economical, so it can help save some money on your installation. You can install the Galvalume outer pipe inside the chase or in an attic, and just before you penetrate the chase or the roof transition to the 304 inner and 430 outer Class A chimney pipe. That way you have the long lasting stainless steel bearing the weather. The Galvalume outer Class A comes with a 10 year warranty.

Each one of the steel grades of Class A chimney pipe are compatible with all of the components available for any installation. Always make sure to follow the installation instructions when installing a Class A chimney and make sure to always maintain the proper 2" clearance from combustible material. Choosing the correct grade will help you save money and give you the peace of mind with your heating systems.
