The DuraVent Direct Vent Pro Ceiling Firestop is required when the vent pipe is passing through a second floor while venting vertically. The Firestop acts as a shield in the event of a fire to prevent the flames from easily moving through the hole where the pipe is passing through the floor. This is required for each floor above the original ceiling pass-through.
