The SuperPro / SuperVent Locking Bands are used to add stability for the chimney pipe connections. The Locking Bands are required for any elbow offset connection, the horizontal pipe connection to the tee snout and for any pipe joint that is extended below the Cathedral Ceiling Support Box. Locking Bands are not required for other vertical pipe connections.
They are recommended for added safety and stability to prevent any of the pipe connections from disassembling during maintenance and inspections. The Locking Bands overlap the pipe joints and once the nut and bolt are tightened they prevent the pipe sections from coming apart unless the Locking Band is removed.
SuperPro and SuperVent models are compatible with each other according to the manufacturer. The 6 in. & 8 in. diameters are the SuperPro model (compatible with SuperVent). The 7 in. diameter is the SuperVent model (compatible with SuperPro).
